The 24 Hours of Le Mans® has been held since 1923, making it not only one of the most prestigious races in the world but also the longest-running. The race takes place at the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France. Over the years, the circuit has undergone significant changes and is now over 13 kilometers long. In most races, participants must cover a set distance.
At the 24H Le Mans® races, it works differently; each team, usually consisting of three drivers, must cover the greatest possible distance within 24 hours. It’s not just about speed, race teams must ensure their cars can run for 24 hours without mechanical failures. Most participants cover over 5,000 kilometers during the race. The record was set in 2010 by the Audi R15 TDI, with the driver trio completing 397 laps and covering a distance of 5,410.7 kilometers.
