What is personal data?

Personal data is all data that can be directly or indirectly traced back to a person. This data therefore contains information about you. Examples of personal data are your name, address details, contact details, bank account number, IP address and browsing and surfing behaviour.

What is meant by ‘processing personal data’?

The term 'processing of personal data' encompasses all activities we may carry out with your personal data, including collection, storage, retrieval, and deletion of that data.

Whose personal data does Alpine process?

We process personal data of everyone who has direct or indirect contact with Alpine or uses our products and services, such as:
•    Website visitors.
•    Customers.
•    People who have subscribed to our newsletters and/or mailings.
•    Applicants.
•    Business partners.

What personal data does Alpine process?

The personal data we process depends on the type of contact you have with Alpine, or which of our products and services you use.

Why does Alpine process my personal data?

We process your personal data solely for clear, specific, and legitimate purposes. Before collecting any data, we carefully determine its intended use. Furthermore, we will not use your personal data for any other purpose, unless it aligns with the original purpose.

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

In addition, we only process your personal data if there is a lawful basis for this: a good reason that justifies us processing your personal data. We process your personal data on the basis of the following justifications:
•    If you have given us consent (for example, to send you newsletters and promotions).
•    To fulfil an agreement with you (for example, to process your order).
•    To comply with our legal obligations (for example, in the context of the right of withdrawal and legal guarantees).
•    To promote our legitimate interests (for example, for marketing purposes).

I gave Alpine consent to process my personal data, but I changed my mind. Can I withdraw my consent?

Yes, you may withdraw your consent at any time. This can be done via:
•    The unsubscribe links in our newsletters and mailings.

From the moment you withdraw your consent, we will stop processing your personal data. Processing of your personal data that took place prior to the withdrawal of consent remains lawful.

I want to exercise one of my rights under the GDPR. How can I do this?

If you wish to exercise any of your rights under the GDPR, you can submit a written request by email to privacy@alpine.eu, or by post to Alpine Nederland BV, Europalaan 40, 3526 KS Utrecht, The Netherlands. We will respond to your request as soon as possible, but in any case, within four weeks.

To process a request, we must first be certain that it was submitted by the rightful owner of the data. If we have reasonable doubts about your identity, for example because you submitted the request with a different email address than the one you used to place an order with us in the past, we will first verify your identity by asking a number of verification questions.

If you are not satisfied with how your request has been handled by us, you have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority. You can do so via the following link: https://www.autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl/en/submitting-a-tip-off-or-a-complaint-to-the-dutch-dpa

Does Alpine transfer my personal data to third countries or international organisations?

We prioritise working with service providers who process personal data within the European Economic Area (EEA). The same level of protection in the field of privacy applies within these countries.

However, some of our external service providers process personal data in the United States. In such cases, we take steps to ensure an adequate level of privacy protection, such as using EU Model Contracts and, where necessary, conducting a Transfer Impact Assessment.

Does Alpine use my personal data for automated decision-making, including profiling?

No, we do not engage in automated decision-making or profiling that would have legal consequences for you.
